Bucharest , July 07 2022 – potential insurance creditors of City Insurance S.A. – may file payment requests until July 20 2022, in order to benefit from the compensation due from the Policyholders Guarantee Fund (PGF), if the right of claim arose prior to the finality of the decision to open bankruptcy proceedings, respectively until of April 20 2022.
Thus, acording to art. 14 of Law no. 213/2015 regarding the Policyholders Guarantee Fund (PGF), as subsequently amended and supplemented, any person claiming against the bankrupt insurer may make a reasoned request to this effect, addressed to PGF (Policyholders Guarantee Fund), but not later of 90 days calculated either from the date of finaly of the decision to open bankruptcy proceedings, respectively April 20 2022 in the case of City Insurance S.A. or from the date of birth of the right of claim, when it was born later, under the sanction of forfeiture of rights.

We recommend to insurance creditors whose claims have not yet been opened or completed, to submit a request for payment, until the deadline for submission, July 20 2022 or maximum 90 days from the date of birth of the right of claim, if it was born after the date of final bankruptcy, respectively April 20 2022.
Following the opening of the claim file or the repair, the insurance creditors have the possibility to complete the documentation already submitted to the PGF.
We remind the potential insurance creditors of City Insurance S.A. that according to the law, PGF is entitled to make payments from its availabilities to the insurance creditor only to the petitioners who have submitted payment requests and who have complete files.
The payment of compensations is made within the limit of 500, 000 RON/LEI for each insurance claim due under an insurance contract concluded with the bankrupt insurer, according to the guarantee ceiling regulated by Law no. 213/ 2015 updated.
At the same time, we reiterate the fact that the PGF registers and solves the payment requeste, in order of receipt. Insurance creditors can check the status of the payment claims registred online on the PGF website (write the number without any points and the date with points, and you mark the box that you are not a robot – https://www.fgaromania.ro/claim-status/).
Until June 30 2022, PGF received a number of approximately 200.000 payment requests from potential insurance creditors of City Insurance and till 31 June 2022 are registred approximately 140.000 of those requests.
By June 30 2022, Policyholders Guarantee Fund had approved 29.527 payment requests, amounting to approximately 259.2 milon RON/LEI.
